Naming of Horse Ceremony

During the summer of 2022 we held a competition to name the horse in the mural painted by Gary Cook, a local artist, and the winners were Sennen and Roux Carroll, of Exmouth. On the 1st October 2022 Mayor Steve Gazzard presented the sisters with their prizes of art materials, for their successful joint entry of the name Duke.

Town Crier, Roger Bourgein rang his bell to gather everyone to celebrate in the Museum forecourt and the Mayor Steve Gazard were they to help them unveil the mural. We invited the two winners to paint images of their own horses Billy and Teddy.

We would like to thank Gary Cook, the artist, and Jewsons of Withycombe for supplying the materials for the mural, and everyone who supported this project.

They girls were then invited paint their own images of their horses and returned to the Museum on the 15th October 2022 to have their photography taken in front of the mural. Below are images from both occasions.
