Opening Ceremony and Reception Refurbishment

The winter of 2022/23 has seen the museum have major work carried out with the original Tack Room of the stables, which date from the mid 19th century being completely gutted and transformed into the new Visitor Reception Area.. This has been carried out by museum volunteers who have put in many hours of hard work to give visitors a warm welcome in the coming season. We could not have done all this without the generous support we have received in the form of materials and time donated to the museum from the following Exmouth businesses, The Kitchen Studio, Tim Wright Plastering, Jewsons, Carpet King, MPS Windows Glass and Wilsons Paints. For this the Museum thank them most warmly.
The Museum decided to hold an Opening Ceremony on 31 March, using the occasion to express our thanks to Geoffrey Perriam for his contribution to the Museum over many years. Geoff became a steward in 1997 and has served on the Committee, as Assistant Curator and as a Trustee, as well as making generous donations and being an amazing resource of knowledge about the town. The Town Crier, Roger Bourgein announced the proceedings with MP Simon Jupp, Mayor Steve Gazzard and many stewards attending. Carole Evershed, Chair of the Management Committee presented Geoff with a framed expression of our thanks.
